Who maintains Pour Tech

Pour Tech is maintained by a small group of contractors and software engineers. We started it because every lumber-yard parking lot has somebody holding up their phone trying to remember the cubic-yard formula. The calculators on this site used to be scratched on the back of a Lumber Liquidators receipt.

What we ship

Today Pour Tech ships three calculators: concrete, drywall, and paint. Each calculator surfaces the math with assumptions cited, so you can sanity check the result against what you know about the project. How the numbers are computed

Each calculator runs in your browser — no inputs leave your phone. The math uses industry rules of thumb published by manufacturers and trade associations: a Quikrete 80 lb bag yields 0.6 cu ft, an 80 lb bag drywall sheet costs about 1 gallon of mud per hundred sheets, a gallon of latex paint covers 350 to 400 sq ft on smooth drywall. We pick the midpoint of every range so a typical job round-trips at the expected number. The assumptions appear right under every result so you can adjust if your job is unusual.

How Pour Tech makes money (and why)

Pour Tech is supported by non-intrusive display advertisements placed above and around the calculators (but never inside them). We chose ads because the site stays free for everyone — no paywall, no logins, no email list.
